Abductors Of Taraba Lawyer Demand N15million Ransom
Abductors of Barrister Obadiah Yabura and his driver have insisted that N15million ransom must be paid to them before they could release him.
A source from the senior legal practitioner chamber, who will not like his name mentioned, said Barrister Obadiah Yabura was abducted two weeks ago at Kofan Amadu along Wukari – Takum road.
He told Daily Trust that the abductors initially had demanded N10million but later changed their mind and increased the amount to N15million.
The source further stated that family of Barrister Yabura had agreed to source N1.5million to give as ransom but the abductors rejected the amount saying it was too small.
Daily Trust gathered that the legal practitioner was travelling to Takum when the abductors blocked the road and took away the senior lawyer and his driver into the forest leaving his Highlander car by the road side.
Two days later, it was gathered the abductors using the abducted driver’s phone called his family and demanded N10million ransom.
It was in the course of negotiation that Barrister Yabura’s family offered to pay N1.5million but the abductors rejected and even increased the amount to N15million insisting that the amount must be paid before they could release him.
“It is now getting to two weeks that the legal practitioner and his driver are in captivity and the abductors are demanding more money,” a lawyer told our reporter.
Daily Trust reports that Takum – Wukari has become a night mare to travellers plying the road due to high rate of kidnapping.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP David Misal, did not answer several calls made by our reporter to him.
